IT Emergency 2006 Day 1

Yea. Ortus (A consortium in my school) boys are awaiting for this. Finally we get to sit at home, stare at pixels flashing before our eyes, and pretend MSN is the classroom - just like what the others have done.

3 Years of waiting has finally paid off - the other consortiums had IT Emergency Weeks like 2,3 times before us. IT Emergency week is when students need not go to school, but rather attend online lessons, where teachers will engage in discussions with students on chatrooms i.e. MSN Messenger.

Firstly, I find this VERY VERY SLACK. Serious. Most of the work to be done, could be done at night, and in the day.. some people just log in.. make themselves "Busy", and then do other things. For example, my friends... they took the opportunity to play a few games, whilst waiting for the "lagging" teacher to start a lesson.
In addition.. there was quite alot of miscommunication somehow.. if people do not cooperate etc... Like people being late, not-online or just plain AFKing

Secondly, I also find this very fun. It is interesting to actually sit at home.. switch on radio/mp3, have a cuppa of c0f33 beside you.. and then start discussing - more of chatting hehe - about the day's events. The only wet blanket are the assignments that are due. haha... student's nightmare --> Homework

Funny event

Do you believe in "your feelings", those hunches that you get whenever you try to make a choice. Haha.

Well, today I was going home from PDC (ding chun), and we took 156. You see, PDC has 2 options, follow me or stop midway and take a transfer bus to his house.
If he had already missed his transfer bus, there is no harm following me all the way to Clementi MRT station. But if he did not, then he'll spend a longer time going to his house!

Well, we saw 156 go past, then a bus 77. He had a hunch, and he said he was very sure, that he had missed his bus (which means he had to wait extra 20 minutes for his next bus, and could rather follow me)

However, yea you guessed it, when the bus was at the traffic light (meaning his descision is sealed), a bus crept up behind us, with the number 970 flashing. LOL ..
haha.. he and I were like so ... yea. "cold"..

coincedence?
So should we trust our "conscience", or that "hunch" inside us?

Exemptions

I shall talk about exemptions now. Kind of thought about it when I was travelling on the MRT to the National Library.

Exemptions, are no doubt, everyone's favourite, and target. No one in their right mind would not want to get exempted from any subject, much less exemptions from all subjects.

Exemptions mean:
Less to study + More free time = Less stress = Higher study efficiency = Better grades in exam-taking subjects

If you also think about it,
Exemptions mean:
Lesser students taking exams = Lesser papers to mark = Teachers have more time = Higher marking accuracy + Teachers not loosing sleep = Higher quality teaching = Students' performance improvement = Lesser students taking exams !

Students' performance improvement = Better Learning and Absorption = Better "O" and "A" levels = Better life

See the trend? Hehe ...
So that is why we should have more pupils getting exempted. It will be a win-win situation eventually =)

Planning for Exams

The Consortium head just gave us some planner for us to plan our stuff. As usual, we went to the back page, look for 12 October, and scrawled "Play" and "Slack" all over the dates after 12 October. YOu should guess why.

I never actually plan stuff. So I do not think this will be of use to me anyways, hehe. To me, planning kinds of restrict yourself, but you need to have that discipline in order to do well for exams? I do not think so. I think just revising whenever you feel like it is good (although try not to keep playing). May be I just cannot shrug off my primary school style, playing even during exams LOL.

Not much thoughts here. Kind of sleepy and tired. This week is really a taxing week, so much homework, spam here flood there. Omg. I wonder when my files will burst open from all the worksheets inside.
